Complete the Holy Quran ! 2025

Completing the Quran

1- ?What is the Complete of the Holy Quran

Complete the Holy Quran, meaning completing the Quran by reciting or memorizing it from Surat Al-Fatihah toAn-Nas, means reading it completely. It is preferable to complete the Holy Quran in forty days or a month at a time. There are those who complete it in a long period such as a week or ten days or in a week (the Companions’ completion), and there are those who complete it in just three days.

2. ?What is the merit of completing the Qur'an

Completing the Qur'an is one of the noble deeds for which a servant is rewarded and attains high ranks. It is recommended for a Muslim to complete the Qur'an repeatedly and to be consistent in doing so. Allah, the Almighty, says: {Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allah and establish prayer and spend from what We have provided for them, secretly and publicly, hope for a commerce that will never fail.} [Fatir: 29]. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah will receive a good deed for it, and a good deed is multiplied tenfold. I do not say that Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter." (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi). Reciting the Quran has good virtues and great advantages, as mentioned in the texts, such as intercession in the Hereafter, many good deeds, elevated ranks, increased certainty, peace of mind, healing from illnesses, tranquility of the soul, relief from worries and sorrows in this world, insight into religion, distinction in doubts, elevation in this world, and other virtues that cannot be counted or described. In the two Sahihs, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The example of the believer who recites the Quran is like the citron, its fragrance is pleasant and its taste is pleasant. The example of the believer who does not recite the Quran is like the date, its taste is pleasant but it has no fragrance. The example of the wicked person who recites the Quran is like the basil, its fragrance is pleasant but its taste is bitter. The example of the wicked person who does not recite the Quran is like the colocynth, its taste is bitter but it has no fragrance.” As for the time period for completing the Qur’an, there is no specific limit mentioned in most of the Sunnah, although there is criticism in the Sunnah and from the early Muslims about abandoning the Qur’an and lengthening the time required to complete it. Some of them set it at forty days, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set this time period for Abdullah ibn Amr to complete the Qur’an. Abu Dawud narrated on the authority of Abdullah ibn Amr: “He asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) how much time should one recite the Qur’an? He said: ‘In forty days.’ Then he said: ‘In a month.’” In al-Bukhari’s narration, he said to him: “Recite the Qur’an every month.” I said: “I have the strength.” He said: “Then recite it in seven days and do not exceed that.” As for the minimum period, it was reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he forbade completing it in less than three nights, based on a hadith on the authority of Abdullah ibn Amr who said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded me not to recite the Qur’an in less than three days.” (Narrated by al-Darimi). In Sunan Abu Dawud, it says: “He who recites it in less than three days will not understand.” This prohibition is disliked.
